@gsnedders That makes a lot of sense
@dletorey @DavidDarnes TAKE MY MONEY
@rem @jina I also often look to @DavidDarnes for good examples and info in this department
A question about #Mastodon etiquette and behaviours —
Are company accounts reasonable here? I'm happy to see a number of conferences, meetups, and open source projects surfacing in my timeline here now, but I'm not really seeing company's operating an account.
Can company accounts exist here and behave nicely? Do we want that?
Asking for a friend. (Who might be a company)
@loftio Asking somebody to donate a full day workshop ticketed at £900-1100 per person is an absolute grift. Shameless.
The same argument of supporting her non-profit event convinced me to not ask for a speaking fee to MC (before I dropped out). I now call bullshit on that event being good for the community it claims to serve. And about it being run not for profit.
@bnijenhuis Glad you got it sorted! 🥳
@goulet Abso-bloomin-lutely!
@DavidDarnes Agreed. Microformats FTW!
@oliverturner New toys. :)

@oliverturner Oh, very interesting!
@oliverturner Very kind! I'm all set.
I confess ! hadn't realised that people could pass these along. I should have spoken up sooner.
Thank you!
@Robb Very kind! I'm all set.

@daniel Oh wonderful! Many thanks!
@Robb I'm eagerly awaiting getting to the top of the wait list.
I really like the look of it and am keen to see how it might help me break some bad habits.
@Robb Isn't it wild?! It makes me so excited for even deeper emersion in game environments.
Eye-wateringly cool reflections and detail now possible in Unreal Engine.
@Casablanca Same.
In fact I’ve quickly reached the point that I’m checking Mastodon first, and then Twitter. And doing the latter less frequently.
I’ll not be posting or engaging over there.
@hdv @ppk @seb_ly That’s what they told me too. And was why I was ok to waive my speaker fee.
I think it’s fine to have the *profits* from an event subsidise another, but not at the expense of the participants and attendees. And telling people who’ve paid large sums that they’ll not get the expected facilities is not ok. Trust will vanish and the whole thing will not be repeatable.
