The archive of what I posted on Twitter, which I now self host due to a lack of trust in Twitter and some other reasons.

I'll soon begin refelcting all my Mastodon posts here too. I'm happier self-hosting or maintaining an archive of my content on URLs that I can own.

There are tools to help you do this too. Such as this one from the makers of Eleventy.

If you are generating sites with many thousands of pages, you may already know that @goHuguo has incredibly fast pre-rendering speeds.

Here, @regisphilibert describes some crafty additional optimisations to speed things up even more by caching partials.

@KimMaida Sites which are pre-generated, so you get:

- Ability to serve entirely from a CDN
- Simplified DX/deployment/hosting
- Better security since no servers to attack
- An ecosystem of specialist tools/services to use at build/run time via JS & APIs
- Reduced time to market & costs

@samnewman @Netlify If you’ve gone to the lengths of rolling your own site with an SSG, you might be willing to also assemble a comments system with the building blocks @Netlify gives you. I made a demo which might be of interest.

I got a little bit ranty in this episode of @fishandscripts. But @Jack_Franklin is the calming voice of reason. So it’s not all bad.

Episode 7 - now ready for your ear holes. https://twitter.com/fishandscripts/status/1201493518566526977

@alanxcone Things like @GoHugoIO (and other static site generators) help build sites with lots of pages. In that scenario, templating and utilities make the process manageable.

The term JAMstack creates a vocabulary to describe a simple static site, plus all the tools that can power it up.
