“A little duplication is better than overly clever code”
— says @emplums at @dotCSS
Hard agree! Especially after I’ve been over eager with my own optimisations and attempts to be totally DRY in the past.
Pragmatism FTW!

Psssst, want to join me here at @netlify and make making things for the web ever more fun and powerful?

@stefanjudis @dotJS Yay!!!

@patrick_h_lauke @derSchepp @goetsu @dotCSS @hankchizljaw I think this reset reverts animations to aaaaaaalmost nothing, right? There might be some deeper thinking behind this from @hankchizljaw

@Eastmad I wouldn’t joke about this.

@hankchizljaw @derSchepp @goetsu @dotCSS Seems like a solid thing to have as a default and then progressively and deliberately enhance from. Nice.

@derSchepp @goetsu @dotCSS On that note, @hankchizljaw’s standard reset CSS takes this approach nicely.

At @dotCSS, @goetsu mentions the importance of thoughtful animations and how using the prefers-reduced-motion media query lets us craft animations as progressive enhancements. I love this. It reminds me of @sarah_edo’s phrasing of 3D RWD (where animation is the 3rd dimension.

At @dotCSS, @frontstuff_io mentions the intellisence support for @tailwindcss. For me this was a game-changer. The VScode extension made all the utilities easily discoverable. Plus, the more projects I use this on, the more familiar & faster I get. Conventions transcend projects.

Instantly loving @dotCSS!
@frontstuff_io is kicking us off with an excellent talk on utility-first css (a topic I’m really enjoying exploring at the moment).
And in the first 30 seconds, @una’s MC-ing creates a warm and welcoming tone for the conference. So great.

@toddlibby Thanks Todd!

@jpamental @24ways Looking forward to it!

@eleven_ty @jameswillweb What?! Oh no! A wonderful voice whom I only knew from his wise but often playful words online. This is terribly sad news.

@stevecomrie @rem So. Many. Questions.

@rdsaunders @gohuguo @regisphilibert Out of curiosity, what version of Jekyll are you on? I believe @raymondcamden saw some big speed bumps when he updated to v4. But both @GoHugoIO and @eleven_ty will be faster than Jekyll.

@jllord Pro level moooooves!

@zachleat Oh no. That's horribly sad.
Sorry to hear this, Zach.
