The archive of what I posted on Twitter, which I now self host due to a lack of trust in Twitter and some other reasons.

I'll soon begin refelcting all my Mastodon posts here too. I'm happier self-hosting or maintaining an archive of my content on URLs that I can own.

There are tools to help you do this too. Such as this one from the makers of Eleventy.

@stefanjudis @Netlify You bet!

Meanwhile I'm totally baffled about how I can't compress 2 of my images any further and yet WebPageTest is confident I could.

@stefanjudis @Netlify Hmmmm. That's odd. I get gzip all happening for me without any manual config. I do have the post-processing option enable, but I believe things should be gzipped either way.

Could you ping support through https://app.netlify.com so that we can investigate and track it properly?

@Jack_Franklin @peduarte @Netlify Thanks for flagging that, @Jack_Franklin. Not sure what triggered it, and agree that it could be pitched a bit better. Will make sure we look at it.

Feedback like this is always helpful. Ta!

@Jack_Franklin Whatever you decide, I'd recommend against serving your site from the apex domain. I reinstated my www subdomain after learning a little more about DNS.

@biilmann wrote a good explanation about that here:

@LeaVerou @Netlify Yay! Pleased you're getting on well with it.

Yep. Both of those are available to use in your. FWIW I do some image generation and manipulation as part of my build to automatically generate open-graph assets for each of my pages.

@ChrisFerdinandi @Netlify @smashingmag Yeah, that's typically the compromise. E-commerce as a PE. It depends on the service you integrate with.

Although you could proxy to Lambda and do all custom queries and return populated views w/o javascript to get best of both!

Hint: check out the Netlify Functions alpha!

@nvreez Privacy, sensitivity and respect are, of course paramount in my AMA. That being said:

"Which would you rather fight: one horse-sized duck, or 100 duck-sized horses?"

Thinking hard, and being nervous whenever there is a knock at the door.

@ChrisFerdinandi @Netlify @digitalocean That's a luxury of #JAMstack sites. Super portable so you can move them around to wherever suits you best. Meanwhile if you're planning to keep WP for just purchase/auth'd content for now, Netlify's CDN can proxy any paths to external services. Just FYI.
