The archive of what I posted on Twitter, which I now self host due to a lack of trust in Twitter and some other reasons.

I'll soon begin refelcting all my Mastodon posts here too. I'm happier self-hosting or maintaining an archive of my content on URLs that I can own.

There are tools to help you do this too. Such as this one from the makers of Eleventy.

I know what pipes are. But I don't do the plumbing in my house. I prefer to use an expert.

"It’s plumbing. Efficient, frictionless plumbing that gets the job done and then gets out of the way. That may not sound glamorous, but to me, that’s the definition of a good tool"

– @tkadlec on @Netlify

I utterly ❤️ that comment!

@chrisdarroch Sadly this is indeed a limitation in the @Bitbucket API. They already have a ticket in their issue tracker discussing this, but it seems to be going a little stale. Do you need to keep your repo in Bitbucket? Both @github and @gitlab support that feature.

@ChrisFerdinandi @rem @digitalocean @Netlify I'm just delighted that the approach is making sense for you and yielding good results.

Personally, I can't remember a time when I my development workflow felt even remotely as productive or dependable. It's made development fun again.

And I'm convinced it can go further!

@ChrisFerdinandi @rem @digitalocean @Netlify Yay! This is on my list... but sadly it has quite a lot of company. Keen to get those case studies out there soon.

Nice to see another real-world example of using @gatsbyjs and @NetlifyCMS for a small business site, built with love by @peduarte on the #JAMstack and deployed to @Netlify.

Interesting write up:

@holtbt This is fascinating.

While not helpful, I really think *it depends* on the features you need for your demo.

I'd also offer slightly different groupings. While Netlify & Surge have similarly straightforward on-ramps, they have quite different features.

Thanks to the flexibility of @rga who are hosting this meetup, we've been able to add some more spaces. We'll still be giving away 2 tickets to @smashingconf to a couple if lucky attendees. https://twitter.com/philhawksworth/status/958046203257720832

@raymondcamden @rem @Netlify Not at all, Raymond. There was certainly an issue. It looks like the Infrastructure and Supports teams sprang into action to resolve the issue quickly, but we still aim to minimise anything like this. Thanks for reporting.

@rem @Netlify Apologies... I've been offline for a little while. Seems like things were resolved according to https://twitter.com/netlifystatus/status/958738412000894976 but I'll investigate what the issue was.

@rafahariuses uses that very trick to win *every design debate we ever have* at @Netlify!

@mxbck @Netlify If you want to use Netlify CI which triggers builds when your repo changes, your Gitlab repo will need to be accessible to Netlify. Often self-hosted instances are not accessible outside of their networks.

If your repo is on a private network, you can deploy via the API instead

@krzysu Although #JAMstack goes further than static sites alone. The JAMstack ecosystem elevates static sites thanks to the use of automated builds and deployments, content APIs, and other services. @smashingmag's move is a good example https://www.netlify.com/case-studies/smashing/

@Una A simple classic:

alias ..="cd .."
alias ...="cd ../.."
alias ....="cd ../../.."

and also handy:

# Create a new directory and enter it
function mkd() {
mkdir -p "$@" && cd "$_";
}
